Honda will purchase 123GWh batteries from CATL from 2024-2030

On December 8, CATL New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. ("CATL") and Honda Giken Industrial (China) Investment Co., Ltd. ("Honda") announced that Honda will operate in China from 2024 to 2030. It is expected to purchase 123GWh pure electric vehicle power batteries from CATL. These power batteries will be produced at the CATL Yichun factory that will be built in the future.

In 2020, Honda and CATL signed a comprehensive strategic cooperation agreement on new energy vehicle power batteries. The cooperation between the two parties extensively covers the joint development, stable supply, recycling and reuse of power batteries. In November this year, Zhongrui (Beijing) Trading Service Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Zhongrui"), which is mainly engaged in the centralized procurement of power batteries for Honda China's e:N brand pure electric vehicles, was officially established.

With the continuous expansion of e:N brand pure electric vehicle products and sales in the future, as one of the measures to ensure long-term stable supply of power batteries, Honda will use Zhongrui to start from CATL between 2024 and 2030. It is expected to purchase 123Gwh pure electric vehicle power batteries, which will be produced at the CATL Yichun factory that will be built in the future.

Honda plans to continue to launch 10 e:N brand pure electric vehicles in China by 2027 to continue to expand sales. In the future, in addition to consolidating a stable supply system for power batteries, Honda will continue to carry out various electrification initiatives covering the value chain.
