Test drive the new Haval H9. Is the hard-core SUV involved again?

Bitauto Original I believe everyone is familiar with the Haval H9, but since the debut of its brother Tank 300, the reputation of the Haval H9 has become much smaller, which means that "it is better to be good than to be good".

As the flagship model of the Haval brand, the Haval H9 has always been on the road to continuous evolution. It received a mid-term facelift last year. In addition to improvements in the exterior and interior, the new Haval H9 also made certain improvements to its off-road performance. upgrade.

Unfortunately, this test drive of the new Haval H9 was basically in a paved road environment, and I was unable to experience the off-road performance that the Haval H9 is proud of. Therefore, in this article, I will focus on the driving experience of the Haval H9 on the road. .

My colleagues have previously interpreted the appearance and interior of the new Haval H9. Interested friends can click on the link below.

First experience of the mid-term facelift Haval H9

The power system of the new Haval H9 still uses a 2.0T turbocharged engine with a maximum power of 165kW/5500rpm and a peak torque of 385N·m/1800-3600rpm. It is matched with the ZF 8AT gearbox and provides sand, sports, automatic, There are six driving modes to choose from, including snow, mud and ECO.

It should be mentioned that the curb weight of Haval H9 exceeds 2.3 tons, and there were a total of 4 people in our test drive, and the overall weight exceeded 2.5 tons.

In AUTO mode, the throttle response of Haval H9 is relatively soft, and the overall power output is relatively smooth and linear during daily driving.

However, when the accelerator is suddenly pressed deeply to accelerate overtaking, the transmission's downshift response speed still has some room for improvement, resulting in the engine's power output below the 1800rpm area not being able to keep up with the driver's intention.

In sports mode, the Haval H9's throttle response is faster, and the engine speed is more likely to be maintained at around 2000rpm. In this speed range, the engine torque has reached its peak, so the power response will be more agile.

Generally speaking, although the power of Haval H9 is not very eye-catching, it is sufficient for daily driving, especially the power after 2000rpm is relatively abundant, and the confidence is quite sufficient, which is more than enough to propel this hardcore SUV.

The steering force of Haval H9 is also relatively light. Although it is large, it is still relatively easy to drive for daily transportation. Although there will be a slight gap in the steering, it is within a reasonable range for a hardcore SUV with a beam style.

I personally think the chassis tuning of Haval H9 is commendable. It adopts a full double wishbone rear multi-link structure. When going over some bumps such as speed bumps, the suspension response of the Haval H9 is very clean and crisp, without any unnecessary bounce.

Under most driving conditions, the Haval H9's chassis appears stable and comfortable to drive.

Since the Haval H9 is a load-bearing body with large beams, there will be more minor bumps in daily driving. At the same time, as a hardcore SUV, the suspension travel is long and soft. If you make a sudden merging, you can feel a certain amount of roll.

However, the above is also due to its positioning, which is also limited by physical factors. If you choose this car, you probably have a need for its passability, and it depends on your personal choice.

The new Haval H9 is equipped with BorgWarner's two-speed TOD intelligent four-wheel drive system. A TOD transfer case with low-speed locking function is used between the axles. Both the front and rear axles are equipped with Eaton electronically controlled differential locks, and it also has 4L low-speed four-wheel drive. , giving it strong off-road capabilities.

It is worth mentioning that the torque capacity of the new Haval H9 four-wheel drive system has been increased from 850N·m to 1200N·m, and the front wheel drive shaft and front axle drive shaft have been strengthened, making the vehicle's four-wheel drive system stronger and more durable. Reliability has been improved.

Unfortunately, I did not experience the off-road performance of Haval H9 during this test drive. I will fully experience it when I have the opportunity in the future.

Written at the end: There is no doubt that the overall hard-core performance of the new Haval H9 is still outstanding. The 2.0T+8AT and excellent four-wheel drive system make it difficult to find opponents in the same class.

It’s just that in today’s “involution” environment, Haval H9 also has to face competition from its brother Tank 300.

The advantages of Haval H9 compared to Tank 300 are its more domineering shape and more ample rear space. There is also a 7-seat version available. What would you choose if you had a budget of more than 200,000?
