Volkswagen plans to revive Scout brand and launch electric models

Recently, overseas media reported that since Volkswagen acquired the right to use the Scout trademark after acquiring heavy-duty truck manufacturer Navistar, Volkswagen plans to revive the Scout off-road vehicle brand as part of its strategy to expand in the US market.

Volkswagen plans to launch a new Scout brand electric sports utility vehicle (SUV) and a Scout brand electric pickup truck. It is reported that the Volkswagen board of directors is expected to approve the plan in the near future. According to the plan, Scout will operate as a subsidiary of Volkswagen in the United States along with Volkswagen, Audi, Porsche, Lamborghini and Bentley and other Volkswagen brands. The move will mark the first time Volkswagen has created a new brand in the United States.

It is reported that Volkswagen plans to invest more than 1 billion US dollars to prepare for the project, and then then seek additional financing from outside investors to enter production. Once operations begin, the company may be listed on the stock exchange.
