The new NIO ES8 is built on the latest NT2 technology platform. The new car's styling adopts NIO's second-generation design language, which embodies NIO's "Design for AD" design concept for NT2 platform models. The new ES8 retains the design elements of the ES family, while also refining many details. The family-style X-Bar on the front face is more integrated into the body, and the watchtower-style design composed of lidar and cameras is more reflective. It shows the futuristic feel of ES8 as a smart flagship SUV.

In terms of body size, the length, width and height of the new ES8 are 5099x1989x1750 mm, and the wheelbase is 3070 mm. Compared with the previous generation, the car length is 77 mm longer, the car width is increased by 27 mm, and the wheelbase is increased by 60 mm. ES8 is the flagship SUV model in NIO’s product lineup. Such size and seating configuration further strengthen the high-end business positioning of the new ES8.

Like other NT2.0 new NIO cars, the new ES8 adds a front lidar and side high-definition camera on the roof. The driving assistance hardware is on par with new cars such as ET7 and ES7.

At the same time, for appearance configuration, optional: six wheel rim styles, chrome hubcaps, chrome car logos, colored brake calipers, chrome front bumper decorative strips, chrome side decorative strips, chrome rear bumper decorative strips , different shapes of rear lower decorative panels (retractable electric tow hooks) and roof racks, etc. Among them, the retractable electric tow hook is configured for the practical purpose of towing RVs and also meets consumers’ needs for outdoor camping.

In terms of seat layout, compared with the previous generation model, the new Weilai ES8 has canceled the seven-seat version and only provides six seats. In terms of battery, NIO ES8 will also be equipped with a power swap mechanism, and can be equipped with ternary lithium battery packs of 75kWh, 100kWh and 150kWh.
